Deb has over 25 years experience in all
areas of weight training and athletic conditioning. She started
working out at age 15 and decided to share her knowledge as fitness
professional in 1982 when she started personal training full time.
Deb was a pioneer in the personal training field with the first
“private exercise studio” in Columbus and the first to offer a
Spinning program in the city. At the time she started, personal
training was only for the “rich and famous”. At this time personal
training is one of the fastest growing professions in the United
States with trainers certified by hundreds of different
organizations. No amount of certifications can ever compare with the
experience of 25 years of hands on training resulting in thousands
of changed lives.
Although Deb’s experience is rooted in
bodybuilding and power lifting she is qualified to train all types
of individuals with a variety of goals. Deb has a unique
understanding of people and how to motivate each person in ways that
they respond to. She has a rare ability of becoming a “chameleon”
with each individual’s needs and personalities. To some she is the
“Dr. Phil” of fitness. While always being honest about the fact that
there are no shortcuts she can motivate with a “soft touch” that
some need. Each individual is motivated differently depending on
their goals and personality and this understanding and building of
personal relationships is what makes Deb’s clients want to keep
coming back for more. Deb does NOT believe in contracts.
In 2001 Deb had a near fatal accident
that resulted in a head injury along with torn ligaments in both
knees. After recovering from subsequent reparative surgeries on both
knees she battled to get back to the kind of shape she was in before
the accident after gaining weight from literally not being able to
walk for almost 2 years and being told she may never walk without a
limp again. 2005 marks Deb’s 40th birthday and she is at the weight
and in the shape at which she won the title of “Miss Natural Teenage
America”. She does not believe in excuses! Not age. Not injury. Not
time or any other excuse you could come up with. Instead she chooses
to count her blessings and turn excuses into reasons to just “get it
done whatever it takes”! This is how she lives and how she teaches
her clients to live. First, put in the work it takes to get where
you feel good about your state of fitness and well being then learn
to live life in moderation. Learn to “make peace” with the fact that
exercise needs to be a part of your life for as long as you are
capable of moving your body in some way. Be glad that you can. Where
are some that wish they could. Put in more work in the beginning of
your fitness program to get to your goal then find a level of
moderation with healthy eating and exercise that keeps you there for
the rest of your life. There are simply no shortcuts, magic pills or
5-minute machines. Moderation is the magic. You can enjoy life, food
and fun as long as you keep yourself within reasonable limits. You
can occasionally take time off working out, occasionally eat things
that taste good and that you enjoy, as long as you don’t overindulge
in anything that gets in the way of your fitness and well being. |
